The challenge
Voltly Commerce was running paid acquisition into a theme-based storefront that could not keep pace with campaign volume. Product pages loaded slowly on mobile, where most of their traffic converted, and checkout had five separate steps with duplicate fields that visibly leaked customers between add-to-cart and completed purchase. Marketing spend was scaling, but return on ad spend was flat because the storefront could not convert the traffic it was paying for.
The solution
We rebuilt the storefront as a headless Next.js frontend connected to their existing commerce backend, cutting mobile product page load time dramatically and removing the friction that was capping conversion. Checkout was reduced from five steps to two, removing duplicate fields and adding saved payment and address options for returning customers.
On the marketing side, we ran structured CRO experiments on product page layout, trust signals, and shipping messaging, then fed the conversion improvements back into paid campaign targeting so acquisition spend concentrated on the highest-converting audiences and creative.
Stack
Next.js headless storefront connected via a commerce Storefront API, a streamlined two-step checkout, server-side rendering for fast product pages, and a CRO testing framework layered on top of paid campaign data to close the loop between traffic quality and storefront performance.
Results
Return on ad spend improved to 4.8x as the faster, lower-friction storefront converted a larger share of paid traffic. Checkout conversion rate increased by 67% after the step reduction and duplicate-field removal, and average order value rose by $32 as improved product page merchandising and post-purchase upsell surfaced higher-value bundles to qualified buyers.
